Microsoft’s Bing gets an iPhone app, and it doesn’t suck
Microsoft and Apple don’t always play nicely together, but if MS wants to compete with Google in search it has to go mobile. And going mobile these days means having an iPhone app, so that’s exactly what Microsoft did.
The Bing app has just hit the app store, and it offers features like voice search, a daily photo, and mapping features (including locating yourself with the iPhone’s GPS).
The first thing you’ll notice about Bing for iPhone is its impressive user interface. The map feature includes a zoom-out button that’s made to be usable with one hand. You can also swipe through search results, including photo searches, which is much faster and easier than tapping buttons.
Other features in the Bing app include movie listings, flight times and news. If you like Bing over Google, you won’t be disappointed by the iPhone offering.
I had the same first thought as Kara Swisher at All Things D, though: when’s the Android version coming out? (Hah!).
