Nvidia brings Quadro GPU virtualization with SLI Multi-OS
The company everybody seems to love to hate these days, Nvidia, has now introduced some extra functionality for some of its professional graphics cards. Named SLI Multi-OS, the debuting goblin-approved technology enables multiple Quadro GPUs to be used to their full potential in a virtualized environment, thus improving productivity while not engaging extra cost.
“In todays economy, organizations are turning to virtualization to increase productivity and maximize cost savings,” says Jeff Brown, general manager of professional solutions at Nvidia. “Now professionals working with visualization applications can benefit from virtualization.”
For starters available only on the Quadro FX 5800, 4800 and 3800, SLI Multi-OS works with the Parallels Workstation Extreme virtualization software and Intels VT-d technology to deliver “advanced visualization and compute capabilities” on a virtualized system. The first workstation to offer SLI Multi-OS is HPs Z800.聽
