Jerry Sanders, the retired CEO of AMD, once said that only the big boys have Fabs, and this might be Nvidias and ATIs biggest problem in the future.

A few days ago AMD silently launched two more energy efficient Athlon CPUs. We dont blame them for not making a fuss about it, as theyve launched a bunch of energy efficient CPUs over the past year so this isnt a big deal.

The new 65nm parts are branded Athlon X2 4450e and 4050e and they run at 2.3GHz and 2.1GHz, respectively. Both are based on the Brisbane core with 1MB of L2 cache and a TDP of 45W. Basically, theyre a couple of nice, modestly priced and power efficient CPUs for a 780G based HTPC or low-end desktop. The 4050e is actually a renamed BE-2350; we have no clue why AMD did that, maybe the want their energy efficient parts recognizable.

The 4450e is listed at €56, while the 4050e sells for €49.
